Steward Training Classes Underway at Local 701
Under the direction of the Midwest Territory's Vice-President Phil Gruber and with the help of the IAM’s Midwest Territory's Education Representative Ed Manhart, the 1st stewards training class was held on February 12, 2009 at Local 701’s Union Hall in Countryside. Local 701 has made a commitment to train all of its shop stewards in the policies and procedures of the IAM and Local 701. The training includes some of the following topics: “The Role of the Steward” "Weingarten Rights” “Grievance Procedures and your Contract” “EFCA” “MNPL” “FMLA”
This training program will take approximately 13 months to completely train all of our current stewards. This training program is set to be held monthly until all stewards are fully trained. All stewards will be notified approximately one month in advance of the training session date.
