HB3940

Attention – Action Required!!!!

In our continued pursuit to change the franchise agreement between the manufacturers and the dealerships in Illinois, the proposed legislative change (HB 3940) was presented in the Illinois House and heard on Wednesday March 24th by the House Labor & Commerce Committee.  This legislative change would force the manufacturer to compensate the dealerships the retail rate of pay for all warranty repairs and would drastically change how our members working at automobile dealerships are paid for doing warranty work.

Testifying at the hearing was a representative from the Chicago Automobile Trade Association and Local 701 Directing Business Representative Sam Cicinelli.  Those testifying in opposition of the proposed change were representatives from the Illinois Manufacturers Association.  After presenting the arguments for both sides the House conducted a vote whereby the results were 21 in favor of the change and 2 opposed.  The next steps are the bill will get presented to the full House of Representatives which will take place the first week of April.

We need your assistance NOW!!  The manufacturers and their special interest groups are pulling out all the stops to prevent you from fairly being compensated for performing warranty work.  We need you to contact your House member TODAY and urge them to support and vote YES on House Bill 3940.  This is your chance to make a difference and assist in our fight – in YOUR fight!!
